The Dino World Story
Dino World is a small Perth based organisation trying to make the world of Dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures come to life for children in Western Australia.
It is led by Mel, a qualified and registered teacher, and her band of Dinosaur loving handlers.
Dinosaurs were a large part of Mel’s working life before she made the transition into the classroom, teaching fulltime. Over the last 25 years Mel has worked in metro and country schools, both in the independent and government sector. During this time she spread her dinosaur knowledge to all classes.
With her love of dinosaurs too much to contain any longer, she thought what better way to educate more children than to build a life size dinosaur. The story continues …
The James T. Rex Story
As educators, Dino World wanted to help fellow teachers fan the love children have for dinosaurs in a fun and visual way. Having always suggested to children that a dinosaur would have been as tall as the roof or as big as a classroom, the idea for James T. Rex was born. James is a cold air inflatable balloon that was specifically designed and made for Dino World.
The inspiration for James came from learning about “Sue”. Sue is the largest, most complete and best preserved Tyrannosaurus Rex fossil ever found. Along with our love of dinosaurs, Dino World and James T. Rex was born.
As James is a balloon and not a fossilised skeleton his dimensions are not perfect, but are a close approximation to that of Tyrannosaurus Rexs’ that roamed the earth 65 million years ago. For some children, James is smaller that they expected, but others are taken aback by his size compared to modern day objects like cars.
With James able to visit your school there is no need for your children to just try and imagine the size of a dinosaur. They can now stand next to James and really comprehend the size of life in prehistoric times.

Here you can find some images of James looking his finest and ready for a “meet and greet”. Also are images of just a very few of the authentic and replica fossils that are included in the Dino World interactive incursion. There are more than 30 fossils for children to observe on the day.
